HP To Establish 7,500 More Retail Partner Stores, New HP Experience Stores and Alternate Experience Centers in the Asia-Pacific

  • Expansion of regional retail footprint across 1,000 cities by 2010 will strengthen HP’s leadership position in Consumer Technology

HONG KONG, Asia Pacific, September 16, 2008
– HP today announced that it will work with retail partners to establish 7,500 retail partner stores across 1,000 cities in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) by 2010. This move to increase the company’s retail footprint to 25,000 retail partner stores in the region within two years will strengthen HP’s position as the top consumer technology vendor in Asia Pacific.

HP will also establish innovative Alternate Experience Centers with lifestyle retail partners – starting with Vivienne Tam fashion boutiques in Asia and the EA Experience Store in Hong Kong. These Alternate Experience Centers are designed to extend HP’s product range out of traditional IT retail stores and into lifestyle shopping destinations, further deepening the customer engagement with women, youths and families.

Stronger Retail Presence
Expansion plan seeks to make it easier than ever for customers to purchase HP’s consumer products throughout Asia Pacific.

Majority of 7,500 new retail partner stores will be in key growth markets – China, India and Southeast Asia (SEA).

New Experience Stores
HP also aims to enhance customer experience in its stores with a ‘HP Experience Store’ program. The retail program will be in 100 retail partner stores by 2008 and 200 retail partner stores by 2009; and aims to create a new in-store experience with:

  • Enhanced In-store layout: HP Experience Stores will be minimalistic in design, and well laid out with interactive demos that help customers better navigate the store and select products and solutions
  • Customized Experience Zones for Mobility, Digital Entertainment, Digital Photography and Gaming – making it easier for consumers to find and compare, play and interact with HP technology
  • Trained and certified in-store promoters with skills and knowledge across the broad portfolio of HP products and services Providing Customers with more personal and informed shopping choices

Designed to integrate HP’s consumer technology into the lifestyles of distinct customer segments – Women, Youth and Families – through the creation of unique shopping experiences and product range

HP Alternate Experience Centers are set up with selected lifestyle partners

  • Women – HP has partnered with Vivienne Tam to create a special edition “digital clutch” which will be showcased in selected Vivienne Tam stores. Fashion meets technology in this partnership providing Fashionistas with a unique shopping experience
  • Youth – Designed for gaming enthusiasts amongst the NetGen, HP’s collaboration with Electronic Arts (EA) will see the EA ExperienceTM Center being outfitted with HP desktops and notebooks.
  • Families – Tie-ups with family friendly leisure and shopping groups to set up Photo Centers that provide users with access to an easy-to-use, safe and convenient photo sharing and printing experience.
