HP Partners EA Experience Store in Ongoing 'Net-Generation' Outreach
  • EA Experience Store in Hong Kong will showcase PCs configured with game-specific themed wallpapers, desktop icons and skins that youth gamers will love

HONG KONG, Asia Pacific, September 16, 2008 – HP today announced a collaboration with Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) in Asia to incorporate HP consumer notebooks and desktops into the world’s first EA Experience Store in Hong Kong. This is an extension of HP’s aim to make technology products and experiences a more intimate part of the youth lifestyle through music, gaming and sports with lifestyle partners like EA.

Highly-connected and well-informed, the metropolitan youths today are a discerning generation. They appreciate personalized experiences over mere products, and HP aims to connect with them by assimilating technology with lifestyle interests.

HP’s established presence in the EA Experience Store is a prime example of the company’s strategy.

HP has partnered with EA to incorporate HP consumer notebooks and desktops into the world’s first EA Experience Store in Hong Kong. It is outfitted with HP desktops and notebooks to support different game genres. Visitors will be able to experience hardcore games like Crysis® and Need for Speed on the HP HDX 900 Desktop PC; casual games like Spore™ on the HP TouchSmart PC and The Sims on the HP HDX Premium Series and HP Pavilion dv 7 Entertainment Notebook PC. These PCs also have game-themed wallpaper and desktop icons installed.

Spore Creature Design Competition


Spore™ Creature Creator Asia Regional Competition on

From mid-July to early September this year, HP and EA Asia Pacific held the Spore™ Creature Creator Asia Regional Competition based on the Spore™ Creature Creator.

Videos of MTV VJs creating their own Spore™ creatures were featured on the competition site –; and the competition was also promoted on MTV Asia.

10 winners from Asia Pacific were flown by HP and EA to Hong Kong for the Engage. Excite. Experience event where the overall Asia Pacific regional winner of the Spore™ Creature Creator Asia Regional Competition will be selected

Other HP Youth Initiatives in Asia

  • Engine Room – A HP-MTV joint reality-show, bringing together four competing teams of digital artists from Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America to New York City to compete in a series of creative challenges. The winning team will take home US$400,000 in cash and HP gear.

  • My Computer, My StageHeld in China, the first phase of the My Computer, My Stage campaign invited youths to create a page on the campaign website. On that page, participates were to express their dreams, achievements and goals through words and illustrations. Today, the Campaign is in its second phase, broadening the avenues of self-expression by inviting youth to express themselves through hip hop – using music, dance and fashion.

  • Inter Action: Art in Motion – HP brought together youths from six cities in Asia Pacific for an electrifying, highly-visual ‘Music and Artparty. Live DJs, visual artists and a host of interactive technologies were used to enrich their experience. More...

  • Take Action. Make Art – A HP-MTV design competition that challenged young people all over the world to create graphics for a special edition HP notebook PC. Contestants submitted designs based on the themes they were passionate about – including environment and peace. The winning design “Asian Odyssey,” by 20-year old Joao Oliveira of Porto, Portugal was featured in a special-edition 14-inch diagonal notebook PC - HP Pavilion dv2800 Artist Edition, and was made available globally in Spring 2008.
