Features New In HP IceWall SSO 8.0

1. Now compatible with the GSSO standard
In the latest version, HP takes advantage of linkage with its cross-enterprise authentication product, HP OpenView Select Federation, to deliver compatibility with the industry standard authentication connection protocols such as SAML 1.1/2.0 established by OASIS (*1) and Liberty Alliance’s (*2) Liberty 1.2.
This step has helped increase in interconnectivity with the many applications supported by these two protocols.

2. Support for more Web applications
Based on the results of numerous implementations over previous versions, HP IceWall SSO 8.0 now offers support for an even greater variety of Web applications.
With form authentication, stronger support for Japanese file names, and extensive agent enhancement, implementing flexible Web authentication is now possible in even the most complex environments. Further, while normal reverse proxy converts URLs, making it impossible to access Web applications from their original URLs once SSO is installed, version 8.0 uses the Apache HTTP server’s Virtual Host function to make access via the original URL possible.

3. Scalable for the future
HP IceWall SSO 8.0 is now a 64-bit application running on HP-UX11i v2. Compared to the 32-bit version 7.0, this offers a dramatic increase in user cache.
By also offering compatibility with Itanium, the new version delivers improved cost performance, while also making it possible to design authentication systems that can support over one million simultaneous user logins with no loss of performance.

4. More secure than ever
Through integration with the Security Containment security function offered standard with HP-UX11i v2, HP IceWall SSO 8.0 provides an unparalleled level of protection against unauthorized intrusions.
Other robust security functions have been included, among them a strengthened security log, better access control between agent and forwarder (the IceWall server), and encryption of session IDs.

*1) OASIS: An international non-profit organization that establishes technical standards for data exchange. HP is an OASIS board member.
*2) Liberty Alliance: An industry alliance dedicated to developing Single Sign-On technology.
